Haven't really done much in the name of disciplined artwork lately, but instead I've just been messin around. I'm gonna post a bunch of photos and paintings that I've done in the past couple weeks where I've just done em to do em. Haven't much been in the mood lately to do anything but nothing.

New Contest!

So, Vital Productions (http://vital5productions.com/CurrentEvents/) does this thing called the Arbitrary Art Grant and gives random grants to artists who submit work. They feel that it is silly to pick the "best" artist for a grant so basically they pick a winner at random. This year for the sculpture AAG they asked artists to go to the grocery store and build a sculpture out of what they could find, place it in a shopping cart, and take a picture.

Pretty cool stuff, so I headed down to walmart today to work on my submission. I made two, but ultimately sent the one with the birdbath and high life.



And of course I left them there for other shoppers to enjoy. :)

Was asked a question recently about what I've been doin all this stuff on. Basically it's translucent plastic shelving walls that I've been painting on. I do the painting on one side and then on the flip side I paste images that I find. I feel like it's an easier way to do collage and painting, although the images do fade a little, I like the focus being on the portrait. makes it pop more.
